*snif*

I miss the days when I used to be able to write. Let me rephrase, I miss the days, back when I first discovered fanfiction and was blissfully ignorant enough to write dazzling tales about Mary-Sues. When I shamelessly dared to have Britney Spears the vampire slayer frolic around on FF.net. To POST stories without bothering with silly things like spelling or grammar, or plot.

I know teen fangirl writers are minions of Satan, but it was such a happy time. I woe the day I started taking writing serious, because I've hardly been able to get anything out of my keyboard since. (bet everyone else was relieved though ;)

Ha, I think I know how you feel. Writing was a lot of fun for me when I was a teenager, and I didn't really know the difference between good and bad writing. Now it seems more like work... but it can still be fun. When I'm drinking. ;-)

WORD! Actually I haven't tried it with booze yet... thanks for the tip.

There is a long and rich tradition of great authors using mood-altering substances. ;)

There were times, writing my thesis especially, when I needed to simply calm down (stop freaking out) and get the work done. Deep breathing and a little Mike's Hard Lemonade did the trick.

Mike's hard lemonade? That sounds so omnious...

Le sigh. I feel exactly the same way.

How well I remember that first soaring euphoria when I realized that I could write stories in which I had tea parties with my favorite people from half a dozen different universes. Now it's all "realism" and "believability" and "not-causing-the-reader-to-spork-out-their-eyes." All the joy has left. :(

That sounds like a classic Alice in Wonderland rewrite to me. Truly a work of art.

My Mary-Sue was a teenage secret computer hacking agent... with my actual penname (in Cupid fandom of all places! WTF?!?)
