Four collisions and a fire!

There was a fire in my building last night!
One thought though; Why didn't the damn fire alarm go off before the damn corridor was completely filled up with smoke! *grrr*
And is it really eco-centric to become a little paranoid about all the scares I've been getting this month? Orange moon out tonight... Did I miss a virgin sacrifice or something?

Woke up around half past two because there were weird noises and doors slamming somewhere. Got out of bed when my neighbor banged on all the doors. Just started to wonder if maybe there was a fire or something when the damn smoke alarm went off!
There's something very disconcerting about opening your door to a dark smoke filled hallway when you live on the fourteenth floor.
All those rehearsed thoughts of; 'get coat, shoes, phone' went right out the window!
I was on my way to the fire escape barefoot and in my pajamas.
Luckily my housemate had already called the fire brigade and they told her the fire was out and it was safe to stay inside, so she ushered the lot of us into her room instead.
After checking with the fire brigade one more time to make sure that, 'Yes we were safe!' we went out on the balcony to look and later went down to check it out.
Appearently someone set fire to a scooter which was parked in our bicycle shed (my housemates bike melted!), which is inside the building! Three people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation. The entrance to our building is just a blackened mess and it took ages to get rid of the stench and sooth in our hallway.
It was pretty scary since we had no way of knowing how bad it was at first.
Still. We got of a lot better then those poor people who had to wait, scantly clad in the freezing night for half an hour.
FLOWERS for my housemates! You're my personal heroes!
