Just taking a moment to praise Artemis Fowl four; the Opal deception.

After nervously hanging around the entrance of our local kiddie bookstore I finally swallowed my ire and bought the damn thing in English. This pisses me of, since the Dutch translation was supposed to be out months ago! Granted, I have no trouble reading in English, but just like I like my Terry Pratchet in English, I prefer my Fowl in Dutch. It just seems to have that extra spark. I blame the awesome translator and the fact that fearies sound less cute when they go native.

Regardless of all this, The opal deception rules.
It may just find the series (and it pains me to write this for the World to see) more entertaining then Harry Potter. Which is ironic, since some fiendishly clever publisher actually tried to pimp it as the new HP... right... well I suppose they're both children's books... er?

The more accurate description is Die hard with faeries.

The first book starts with 12 year old criminal child genius Artemis Fowl and his massive bodyguard Butler, kidnapping ELFBI officer Holly Short while she's replenishing her magic in Ireland. Her ransom, millions in Gold.
In the following books the naturally pissed of officer Short and arrogant Artemis who earned himself a spot on the usual suspect list are forced to work together on various cases.

All four books are to fun for words. Go forth and check them out! :)

Its a delicious CSI/HP crossover. The formatting might look anoying at first, but push past it. It's worth it and it get's better later on (author's first fic).

It features a totally OOC Greg Sanders. But it's all good. The whole story is about the 'why of his weirdness'. Totally got me obsessing about the point where his colleges really sit up and start paying attention.
