Honestly, has Doppelganger even aired yet? I heard it was leaked on itunes and I KNOW it's on you tube but...
Anyway, since by now I'm sure half of fandom has seen it... (and if you haven't you should, because it's made of win!)
Obviously people more savvy then me are going to say all kinds of clever things about the dreams, so just trust me when I say them writers sure put some thought into that.
We are not involved! Teyla snapped
Oh of course you're not honey! It would be like dating your own kid. Or maybe the irritating younger nephew you're always babysitting and I know that's done in some places, but not when they are six, which is about John's mental age. The incredulity in her voice just slayed me. You'd have to be pretty screwed up to think John was a good catch...
And speaking of screwed up...
That vulnerable broken tone when Rodney said that! He wasn't just scared of the entity. He was so obviously worried that John would reject him when he saw what really made his friend tick. And again when he thought Sheppard was being mean to him! Someone help me hug Rodney, because my bosom isn't nearly ample enough for that much woe!
OMG they killed Heightmeyer! You bastards!
Why was Teyla in Kate's dream? I got the impression that maybe she was there because at some level it registered that Teyla was trying to wake her. She must have just died by the time Keller reached them. I don't buy that Teyla wouldn't be able to tell someone was dead.
Teyla was hurting all over the place in her own cool, controlled way, which was awesome (marvel for a moment, that they're actually developing her character this season), and I bet Rodney is just crushed. CRUSHED at the loss of his therapist! Because he's kind of screwed up even if the entitykilled left him before we could see the full scope of it. You just know he's been seeing her regularly!
I've often marveled how all the horrible, crappy things that happen to him, hardly slow him down.
Rodney strikes me as a guy that takes a licking, books himself an appointment with his shrink to carefully work through his issues, and then keeps right on ticking! Hope they send the new one by bridge, because I don't think they can wait a couple of months.
Row, row, row your.... well, you know
...The little button up shirt Mckay was wearing on the boat. HOT. And Rodney should never be allowed to dry off. If I could control Atlantis with my mind, sprinklers would miraculously turn on where ever he went (And sheesh, he really is going bald! All this time I thought he just had a widows peek).
John's mind:
Rodney oblivious: I thought there'd be more hot naked girls.
John deeply, deeply repressed: Yeah.
And then they were back in the infirmary,
Aching but content and the music swelled and Rodney made to reach out to John's hand, but then realized that he was in fucking agony and everybody was staring at them and that this wasn't a episode of ST:TNG. I know the writers intended the music theme to be: 'we have overcome', but really that was a ballad to John and Rodney's eternal love if I've ever heard one.
Sam and Keller
Now to be honest, Keller has an advantage to Sam in some way's because I wasn't a big Carson fan. I thought he was a bit of a bastard, in a way that irked me more then Rodney's ass-holishness. But I find I rather like Keller on her own merritt. She's sweet, amiable and probably in over her head a little. It will be fun to watch her learn to swim before she drowns (or is eaten by a whale).
Sam.... I wasn't keen on any member of SG1 crossing over, because they don't posses any skill-set that wasn't already available on Atlantis. I didn't want any of the Atlanteans to be one upped by the SGC's golden team. But then they got rid of Elizabeth and that created an opening (that might have been better filled by Daniel, but I think I actually prefer Sam). My biggest concern was that Rodney would be pushed into the role of comic relief and made to embarrass himself, even more then usual. Yes, he does that better then anyone, but Hewlett does lots of things better then the rest of the cast and I rather like it when he gets the chance to show it.
They did the embarrassment stick in Ep 3, but thankfully not in Doppelganger. He got to play both the damsel and the hero and it made my night. Frankly Sam can look cool all on her own. No need to put anyone down for it.
I liked her as a leader tonight. Being in charge and clever, even if she doesn't have the same flair with people that Elizabeth has. (and if you don't know what I mean by that, you clearly haven't seen reunion *cough*Ronon*cough*).
Only nag: "Doctor Kate Heightmeyer meant a great deal to all of us." Had she even MET the woman before this?!?!
