Let's all take a moment to mourn Ten.

Wee discussion after cut

Point number 1: I never watched old school who, so who was the old time lady? Romana or Susan? Susan would fit because she got left behind in some kind of overwritten AU, but Romana also buggered of somewhere. Either would be cool, but I'm curious what people think.

Point number 2: I hated last weeks ep. It was the first one I ever watched with my mom, and it was a bit mortifying. I was all;  'No really, it's normally quite brilliant. I don't know what happened!' I'd just gotten her hooked on Merlin too. Guess Who will be an ongoing project.

The best doctor who episodes jump right into the mystery, and then spend an hour solving it. This whole elaborate setup to explain how all the players and pieces got to be there, just to be able to get to the story was plain bad storytelling. If only we could have gotten a full season. Then they could have planted the seeds in a more natural way.
And seriously: The human baddies. Was I the only one who thought they were husband and wife for about half the episode? Ew.

Still tonights ep was quite exiting, thank God, because Tennant deserves no less.

Point number 3: Eleven. I wasn't really impressed by him, but I wasn't instantly impressed by Tenant after his regenaration either. I mean, how much of an impression can a guy make in less then a minute. His new companion is like the cutest thing ever though.

Point number 4: So good to see all the old hands again. I still haven't seen the last Torchwood. I accidentally got spoiled and it scared me off. Jack looks like he's hooking up with Ianto and Owen's illegitimate lovechild. Does Children of Earth feature Zombie Mpreg?
Martha and Mickey got married! Martha was my least favourite companion (I didn't hate her, but I didn't enjoy the overt pining). Mickey on the other hand is my second favourite, so that was absolutely brilliant! Wasn't she already engaged before he came back from the mirror World though? Poor bloke.

looks around rather shiftily

I'm coming from about the same place as you in my DW knowledge, so... Um, I may be way way way off base but I was thinking the older lady might be The Doctor's mom. Of course, I'm also thinking that old Wilfred might be The Doctor's father who did the whole Time Lord In A Bottle Watch thing and that's how she could speak to him. So... grain of salt that.

11 looks... Is it rude of me to say that the new Doctor looks like someone hit in in the face with a board? And his eyebrows were lacking. Very shoddy that.

Wait till you see how he's going to dress. Half of tens sex appeal was the suits!

Of course, I'm also thinking that old Wilfred might be The Doctor's father who did the whole Time Lord In A Bottle Watch thing and that's how she could speak to him

And now that you've placed that idea in my head, I feel you're practically obligated to explore it some more :)

That man could wear a suit.

I'm not sure I could do it justice though.

The only way I could think to write on it would be to basically have Wilf in the hospital (on his deathbed?) and Donna gathering things to take to him finds the watch and thinks the markings look familiar. She takes it to him, he opens it up... And the shock of the on rushing memories kills him and he regenerates. And then I have no clue, so that's why I'm not exploring it. ;)

But that would make Donna half a time lady, or maybe a quarter, in which case the mind fuse mind not end up killing her after all...

The mind fuse didn't kill her, The Doctor just thought it would and sought to protect her. What if it turned out he didn't need to do that after all? That would add a whole new layer of tragedy to it.
